Attorneys To Speak on the Corporate Transparency Act for Toledo Chamber Webinar on February 20

A new federal reporting requirement impacts certain business owners effective immediately. RCO Law Attorneys Marissa Fitzpatrick and Mike Messenger will be presenting a webinar on the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) for Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce members on Tuesday, February 20, at 2 p.m.

The United States Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is implementing the federal Corporate Transparency Act (CTA)as a component of the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020. Under the CTA, FinCEN is required to establish and maintain a national registry of “beneficial owners” of certain entities deemed to be “reporting companies” with new filing requirements that became effective on January 1.

The intent of the CTA is to expose shell companies engaged in illicit activities such as money laundering, financing terrorism, human and drug trafficking and securities fraud.

Mike and Marissa will discuss the CTA and answer questions regarding filing the proper documents or “Beneficial Ownership Information” with FinCEN and penalties associated with non-compliance.
