Wiley Honored for Dedicated Community Service

March 06, 2023

Each year The Mirror, a community newspaper in Maumee, asks readers to nominate a person who has made a positive impact in the community. Attorney Julie Wiley was honored as one of the "General's Heroes" in 2022. This is the second time that Julie was honored by readers; she was also named a Hero in 2021.

Julie is an active board member of the Waterville Historical Society and Waterville Chamber of Commerce, and she serves as president of the Fallen Timbers Battlefield Preservation Commission. Julie generously shares her passion for local history and actively supports the Anthony Wayne community.

As first vice president of the Waterville Historical Society, Julie was integral in researching, planning, and fundraising for the first Haunted Waterville Tour series held June through October 2022. The guided horse-drawn tours carried visitors through the streets of Waterville identifying homes and businesses that have experienced paranormal activity. All proceeds from the tours benefitted the Waterville Historical Society.

According to Jackie Lehman, executive director of the Waterville Chamber, "Julie shares the best ghost stories! She is always looking for ways to fund the Waterville Historical Society museums and historic projects."

Julie has engaged RCO Law in sponsorship of the Waterville Ghost Tours, Waterville Chamber's Business After Hours Open House, and A Christmas to Remember Family Celebration in Waterville on December 3. At the Christmas to Remember event, Julie shared her artistic talents with guests helping them create fused-glass Christmas ornaments.

"Julie graciously donates her time working on various committees and programs. Her passion, expertise and level of commitment make them all successful. She is knowledgeable and has a keen interest in the rich history of our area. She is often invited to speak to groups on the Battle of Fallen Timbers and how this area and our forefathers are a valuable part of American history," Jackie explained.

As senior counsel, Julie has been associated with RCO Law for more than 38 years. She currently serves as the chair of the Medical Malpractice Practice Group and represents health care institutions and physicians throughout Ohio.
